The Blog Begins... in Germany!

Thunderstorms...
Cable cars...
36 ÂșC and the beauty of Heidelberg.  A wonderful way to share a family holiday!  While my sister Katalin could do nothing but remind me of an ancient movie called "The Student Prince",  with singing by Mario Lanza (but not played by him because he was too fat!), our mother used to love that music.  The movie was filmed in Heidelberg-- before time began!
When we had completed the tourism part (including Heidelberg Castle and a mountainside monorail which was extremely steep and had Bethany a little upset to say the very least- i.e. tears were involved) we ventured into town and enjoyed a look around the buildings and architecture and took in the occasional ice cream.
We came back home and went to the pool in Oberursel (where Hugh and Katalin live) and everybody who went, went for a swim for at least an hour to cool off.  All, of course, except for Katalin and Hugh.  How on Earth could they resist?!
We came home for tea outside under the awning, after which we played games until well after darkness had fallen and it was past Connor's bedtime.  During the night there was a monster thunderstorm.  At 4am we decided we had better check on Bethany.  I crept into her room only to find her watching the weather shenanigans herself, frightening her even more by being a creeper!  I know I'm no oil painting; but I'm certainly no John Merrick!
